Best Of TV Awards 2013 - Semi-final results for Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actor, Actress and Program1/18/2014 The Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Actor, Actress & Program semi-final voting produced a couple minor out of left field shockers. Best Program Category leader was a finalist for best New Program last year. The Canadian sci-fi cop from the future show "Continuum" beat out former 2X champ "Supernatural" 488 to 446 votes. Not too far back in 3rd is 2X finalist contender "Lost Girl" at 431 votes. Rounding out the top 5, 1st time finalist "Doctor Who" & 2011 best New Program winner "Once Upon A Time". The rest of the finalists are - "Game Of Thrones", "Haven", 3X finalist "Fringe" & the defending champion "The Walking Dead" who limped in to the finals in the last spot. Missing the finals - "Grimm" & 2010 finalist "Warehouse 13" were well back at 60 & 61 votes behind. Best Actor category, after a 1 year anomoly last year that saw a member of The Walking Dead win, seems to once again be going all Supernatural's way. The 2010 Best Actor & 2011 winner of this category Jensen Ackles finds himself in a battle with his co-star, Misha Collins. Collins narrowly beating the 2X champ by just 3 votes 610 to 607. Back in 3rd is "Continuum" leading man Victor Webster at 385 votes. Rounding out the top 5. the 3x finalist Jared Padalecki "Supernatural" & Robert Carlyle "Once Upon A Time". The rest of the finalists are - Kris Holden-Ried "Lost Girl", Stephen Lobo "Continuum", Eric Balfour "Haven", defending champion Norman Reedus "The Walking Dead", Peter Dinklage "Game Of Thrones" & Tom Mison "Sleepy Hollow". Missing the finals - 2011 Best Recurring Actor winner Mark Sheppard "Supernatural" 42 votes out, Colin O'Donoghue "Once Upon A Time" 61 votes out. 2011 finalist Ian Somerhalder "The Vampire Diaries" 101 votes out. Best Actress category, the defending champion is OUT. Hows that for a tough category to crack? Finalist last year Zoie Palmer "Lost Girl" who plays Dr. Lauren Lewis, a regular finalist on our awards & season end contests, led voting in the semi-finals with 462 votes. In 2nd was BOTVA finalist newcomer "Continuum" lead actress Rachel Nichols at 437. Another "Lost Girl" finalist in 3rd as former 2X finalist Anna Silk had 344 votes. Rounding out the top 5 - Emilia Clarke "Game Of Thrones" & finalist last year Ksenia Solo "Lost Girl" The rest of the finalists - Lots of newcomers Tatiana Maslany "Orphan Black", Emily Rose "Haven" & Emilie de Ravin "Once Upon A Time" & Lexa Doig "Continuum" all in for their 1st time & finalist last year Lana Parrilla "Once Upon A Time" . Missing the finals - Jennifer Spence "Continuum" by just 12 votes behind her cast mate. Defending champion Jennifer Morrison "Once Upon A Time" came 31 votes short of a finals spot. The Best Director category in only its 2nd year & so far its been almost all Supernatural running away with it. Winning last years & runner up, they look poised to try & do that again this year with 4 finalists. Philip Sgriccia "Sacrifice" (Supernatural) led with 137 votes, just 9 ahead of last years runner up, back for another crack at it with 2 finalists Guy Norman Bee "Devil May Care" at 128 votes & "Taxi Driver" (Supernatural) in 4th with 113. Sandwiched in between the pair of finalists from Bee is Jeannot Szwarc "LARP And The Real Girl" (Supernatural) at 123 votes. This set of categories dealt with Best Actors in Comedy, Sci-fi or Fantasy & Action or Drama. The Best Comedy category was dominated by 3 shows, Psych, The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, as they combined, took the top 7 spots in the category. Timothy Omunson from Psych was an unlikely leader, as he managed a large lead over Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory and Neil Patrick Harris, last years winner from how I Met Your Mother. The top 5 were rounded out by Johnny Galecki from The Big Hang Theory and James Roday from Psych. Those who have advanced to the semi-finals will be in BOLD text.
